about

When the worm and fiftymoons decided to jump on board with the Cosmodrome 66 project, we engaged in dialog concerning the ethos of Cosmodrome. We decided we wanted to create a 'drone-pop' and 'stoner' hybrid. The emphasis on a hypnotic part of the instrumentation that varies little throughout the song. Drums feature a solid meter and a straight ahead beat while the bass percolates creating a propulsive effect beneath the overdriven guitar. We wanted to accentuate certain parts of percussion for different songs. The ride cymbal or the hi-hats may be more pronounced, treated in mixing, and feature the groove element of that particular piece of music. During rehearsals, prior to recording, the worm and I spoke about how this project sounds like an early morning (before the sun rises) drive home after having a great time. Early morning stone groove. The ethos of Cosmodrome 66. Open eyes, open heart, open mind.
